One Random Sleepover at Hongdae (Written in English)

(OK, I wrote this over a year ago,  but it was never published. The story happened in March 2017, and I am posting it now cause I don't want it to be a waste. Sorry if there is outdated information!)

----------

I remember it was a freezing night in Seoul. The weather report said it was two degrees Celcius, which was actually tolerable, but the one that we couldn't stand was the wind. The three of us were eating chicken and chips in a random chicken & hof restaurant, which I can't remember the name (we chose to eat there because it was freezing and we were starving). They were playing an upbeat K-Pop song that isn’t even suitable for the restaurant's vibe.

Here's a pic of the chicken!

Anyway, even after we ate a massive portion of Korean-style fried chicken & some chips and stayed inside for hours, we were still cold. Then my friend said that there's no way she's walking home at a night this cold, and her dorm is located up on a hill. The same thing with me, my dorm is also located on a hill, and I couldn't imagine climbing up the hill tonight (what's with Korean universities and hills?!).

Then an idea popped out… why don't we have a sleepover somewhere near here?

Then we spent the next hour browsing through Airbnb & Booking.com. We found some nice places near Hongdae through Airbnb, but we thought the rate was too pricy for one unplanned stay. After some time, we found a guesthouse in Hongdae with a reasonable rate, which name I'm not going to mention. We were heading in that direction until we bumped into a tall building with 'Dustin Guest House' written on it. Because it was too cold and we couldn't stand to walk some more, we decided to enter the building, heading to the 3rd floor. It was actually very shady from the outside; we were not even sure to enter the place. But OH WELL. We finally decided to enter.

When we entered the place, some Mexican guys were sitting in the living room and two other girls (One of them is from Lithuania, the other I didn't ask, lol, sorry). They told us to wait in the living room because the owner was out and would probably be back soon. So we waited there with them, and I checked via booking.com if there were any available rooms in this guest house, and thankfully there were one. The reviews were good, and we booked it instantly. A few minutes later, Sabrina (the property keeper) came and confirmed our booking and led us into our room. Anyway, here are some pics from the guest house:

I took this picture in the morning, the guest house is located on the 3rd & 4th floor.

To make it easier to find, this is how the building looks like from the front.

Shared bathroom on the 4th floor.

Hallway on the 4th Floor

Our room! it's made for 4 people

Overall I like this place a lot, and I really recommend this place for budget travelers. Why? Cause..
1. It's located at the center of Hongdae. Literally close to every restaurant/shop/club/bar you want to visit.
2. 64.000 won for four persons
3. Free breakfast (bread + jam) & free water at any time
4. Clean enough
5. There is a rack full of Korea Travel books written in English. So you can plan your next destination easily.
6. You can easily interact with other travelers.
7. The property keeper (Sabrina) speaks English very fluently
